Beware of Ebay Feedback Extortion from Art Covert

In April, I was cleaning out the attic. I found some photographic lens filters that I did not need and listed them for sale n Ebay. I listed a starting bid a $0.01 with $3.00 for shipping and handling. I really didn't care if I made any money from these items. I just wanted to get rid of them and thought someone else might enjoy using them.

Art Covert (Ebay screen name ben_rumson) had the high bid for six of these filters at $0.01 each. I used the automated invoice function on Ebay to send an invoice for the six items $0.06 for all and $18.00 for shipping and handling. $18.06 for all. If you bought these filters from a store, they would cost at least $15.00 each. That would be $90.00 plus tax or shipping cost.

After receiving the invoice from Ebay, Art Covert immediately complained about the cost for shipping and handling and explained that he really didn't need the filters because many were duplicates for him. So called Mr. Covert and offered to to cancel the sale since he seemed unhappy with the conditions and didn't seem to really want the filters. I thought I was being generous. Mr. Covert then demanded that I discount the shipping and handling cost and threatened me with negative feedback if I did not comply with his demands. He then hung up on me.

At this point, I decided that Doing business with Mr. Covert was not a good idea. I called back and informed him that I would not be accepting any payment from him. Mr. Covert tried to send payment through Paypal but I refunded the payment.

I did not want to complete the transaction because I could imagine other complaints and threats might follow. I thought about sending him the filters at my own expense with no payment but decided it was my responsibility to stand up to this type of cyberbully.

Mr Covert left 2 negative feedback and again threatened more if I did not send him the filters. I have ignored his threats.
