Travelocity - PASSPORT TO FUN
Provided my personal credit card account information to PASSPORT TO FUN without my approval or knowledge

Internet & Web

The bottom line of this complaint is that Travelocity provided my personal credit card account information to a 3rd party (Passport to Fun) without my approval or knowledge. With that ill-gotten information, Passport to Fun, to date, has made over $300 in unauthorized charges to my account. At best, this is a deceptive business practice. At worst, it is fraud.

I purchased an airline ticket from Travelocity in March. Within a few days of the purchase, a very serious medical family emergency occurred and I couldn't take the flight. I called Travelocity asked to reschedule my flight based on family medical emergency. Travelocity asked me to provide a written request and Medical records. I provided a 5 page request and my sister's medical records.in April I was told that my request for rescheduling was declined. I didn't think this was fair but was way to busy to pursue the matter further.

Much to my surprise, today I noticed monthly charges for something called AP9*PASSPORTTOFUN on my Discover Card. After googling "Passport to Fun" I realized that I had been scammed. The fun charges are over $300 and counting, with a total of over $500 dollars in expenses associated with the Travelocity flight I never took.

I am absolutely sure that while making the Travelocity reservation, I did not authorize "Passport to Fun" to bill me and certainly did NOT give them my credit card account information. Yet, they ended up with my personal account information and had been charging me $14.99 every month since March long after the Travelocity ticket had been cancelled.

I called Discover Card. They were sympathetic, but told me that they could not stop the charges based on my input. I would have to call Passport to Fun to do that. I protested saying that I did not have a business relationship with Passport to Fun and shouldn't have to call them to stop payments for a service which I didn't ask for, am not receiving, and want to stop the billing. It's like going into a restaurant and buying dinner only to have the bakery down the street get your credit card information and charge you $15.00 a month for croissants that you never asked for. Oh, and by the way, you never got any croissants either.

I called Passport to fun and told them I wanted to terminate my membership. I asked just how I had become a member of the special club that I never joined. I was told that Travelocity had provided the credit card number and quickly transferred to a supervisor. I asked how long I had been billed and asked her to clarify exactly what charges she was waiving. She said that they would no longer bill me and got a little snippy saying: what do you want? I told her that my credit card company would be contacting Passport to Fun and wanted her company's cooperation. Not fun.

Then, I called Travelocity. To make a 58 minute telephone call short (er), I asked over and over again: how did Passport to Fun get my personal credit card account information since I only provided it to Travelocity? Initially I was assured that Travelocity would never provide my credit card information to a 3rd party. I kept asking the question and was put on hold for painfully long periods of time. Finally, Travelocity provided me with customer service e-mail addresses at a 3rd party company which was charging me. Here are the e-mail addresses: Michael. Quinn@vertrue.com and sarah. Robinson@vertrue.com. Pretty interesting coming from a company that said they would never provide my personal account information to an outside party.

In summary, Travelocity had no business providing my personal credit card information to a 3rd party without my approval or knowledge. Somebody needs to stop these guys.
