TheGiftLot
Is "an independent rewards program" or rather "scam program" offering $500 airline tickets for other product purchases

Internet & Web

Billy feels like a boy right now. I recently received an email advertising 2 tickets valued at $500 on Southwest Airlines. I like to fly Southwest and get emails from them regularly. Although I could see this wasn't from there website, I decided to check it out.

The website page (that I saved but was unable to paste in this report) included info such as a picture of a Southwest Airlines airplane, that the 2 tickets are reserved for 48 hours, that "free shipping provided by FedEx" with a FedEx logo, and that participation is required, see details below.

This led to a series of options to buy or not buy various legitimate and reputable products, at least the ones that I was familiar with. At first it said 2 were required to purchase to get the airline tickets. Ultimately, I bought one - a Video Professor product - for which I can cancel my order if I so choose. When I tried to find the original offer, it said more purchases were required, and ultimately the offer for the tickets was unavailable/inaccessible/disappeared.

By this time the scam was apparent and I checked the original webpage and read the fine print that "TheGiftLot is an independent rewards program to consumers and is not affiliated with, sponsered by or endorsed by the listed products or retailers."

Please check out Bob Hobb's, New Mexico report on usacomplaints.com dated 9/5/08. Same scam, same result.
