M Total Rip Off Beware

I purchased a HP laptop at Circuit City in Dayton, OH on 10/28/06.in Oct. 0n just before the 2 year warranty expired the computer malfunctioned. The computer would come up you could hear it trying to start up but you could see nothing on the screen. I called the toll free number, no problem, they would ship a shipping box out to us and take care of it. Within 24 hours we received a box shipped the laptop tracked it online and had it back within a week. We took the laptop oullt and noticed first thing that the metal plate that goes across the top where all the buttons are was not replaced properly, the corners did not fit flush. We turned on the lap top and it came up instantly, so we're thinking taking out this extended warranty paid off. When we tried tried to type the keyboard would not work. We pulled up the internal keyboard and typed in the information that way.

The day we called the company again. No problem, we'll send you box, no you can not use the box you already have, you to wait for us to send you another box just like the one you already have. We get the new box, send the laptop back. We go to the website to track the progress of the laptop and on Sunday we see that on Friday they have rejected the laptop. I call Micromedics to find out what is going on they tell me when the laptop was received it was damaged. Guess what the damage was??? The plate across the top of the keyboard was bent up. So I tell the that this is the way they sent it back. The guy on the phone tells me that it's my word against the tech's word and they have to take the word of the tech. As I stand now I have a fax number that I have to fax a rebuttal to and wait 48 hours for them to contact me and give me their decision.

At one point during my conversion the guy tells me that the computer was damaged the first time they received it, but they fixed it as a courtesy to me, oh sure. The mother board was out in the laptop, you think they are going to go to that much expense if the laptop comes in damaged. So we will wait and see what comes of this mess once we have faxed the rebuttal to Micromedics. Check back, I will be updating this situation.
