Unauthorized charges to credit cards after cancellation of membership

I signed up to receive my "free" credit report using these websites. I thought the reports would come in my email. I didn't receive anything or any email notification. I became worried because I had given them all my personal info. I called the number the next day to cancel my membership. The $1 charge they had processed on my credit card was refunded in just a few days. But then, after that they started charging my credit card $1 each month. And a different service that I never signed up for called "shopping essentials" (that I later found out was related to this company) charged my credit card $15 a month.

I tried calling a few of their phone numbers, and this slick company has many phone numbers, some of which turned out to be disconnected and some of the numbers were just recorded messages and wouldn't let you speak to anyone. I searched on the internet and found the same thing was happening to other people and their experiences showed no success in contacting the company themselves either by phone or email.

So, I looked up the company on the better business bureau and of course, there are numberous complaints against them but the complaints were all resolved to the complaintants satisfaction. So, I decided to go this route and filed my complaint. The company responded to my complaint within the timeframe given by the BBB. They sent me notification via email that my membership was cancelled and refunded all the charges to my credit card.

I decided to file this report on this site to warn others from signing up with this company because they have a habbit of doing this to people. But, if you find that you're experiencing the same problems with this company, I encourage you to file a BBB complaint.
