Data Processing at Home - NOT a Legitimate Job!

I saw this job posting on a couple different job boards online with a 'work from home' offer to do data processing. I emailed to ask for more info - did NOT apply - just asked for more details.

This is a portion of the email I received, with language that immediately made me suspicious that it was a scam:

Let me be the first to thank you for taking the time to apply. I am happy to inform you that you have been selected for training. You will be able to begin immediately after you complete your training.

As you are approved, you will be paid for each assignment accepted at the rate of $20.00.

You will be working on your own pace and will train at your own pace. The more data projects you process, the more you make. You will not be an employee of Macro Data Processing; instead you will be a silent partner. This is not a job.

You will be handling inquiries made by email, sent to you from various sources. You will receive a training manual via email. The training manual costs $20.00 and is purchased through Google Checkout. We have to charge for it because it is considered confidential material. I will send the material upon receiving payment. Once again, this is not a job. No one will be pacing the floor telling you to hurry. You make your own hours.

I will tell you straight up. The training manual contains information about how to post jobs online. The $20 you receive is from selling training manuals. I am going to quit doing this because I have already made back the money I spent on my training manual. It is pretty much a scam, and I fell for it. Sorry if this wasted your time.
