Do research before you buy

I ordered the Bowflex select tech dumbells for just under $400. They offered free shipping and a free stand which would have been a $300 savings to me. I paid by Paypal (thank goodness). First, let me note... I did not check to see they did not have a phone number (that is your first clue). If you cannot get a hold of them by phone or email then how do you ask them to give you your money back??? Well, they sent me one automatic email stating they would send a tracking number to me... But, like other victims of this company, this NEVER happened. I also did not test out the online "Liveperson chat" link that made this site look legit... Which proved to be a cover. They have nothing to do with this company at all... It is just a empty link.

After 3 weeks of sending emails to the company and never getting a reply, I filed a dispute with Paypal. Paypal states they do not "protect" the consumer when it is a transaction that DID NOT take place on eBay. They were purely just a method to communication with the company. Well, this was better than nothing, since I had no communication with them any other way. I figured, I may not get my money back, but maybe Paypal would prevent them from using their name.

In the end, I got my money refunded from the company over a month later... Just prior to taking the dispute to the next step. They had a once sentence answer: "Item Out of stock". I think they just used this as an excuse to get Paypal off their backs. Funny how they were out of stock but never told "Me" about it. Just remember, if it sounds too good to be true, do some serious research about the validity and track record of the site. I am just thankful I got my money back, but I feel bad for those who didn't. Paying by paypal was the only smart thing I did for this transaction. At least I could beg for my money back somehow.
