Drops the ball and overcharges again due to their foul up

I have had my account with Charter set up to automatically bill my debit card for years.

The charges for my Charter account # *392 are automatically billed to my credit card on the first of the month.

I received a past due bill today 8/16/07 for $225.48 (two months) that included a threat to disconnect my service. The bill did not include a due date. I verified that the charge was not submitted to my card as in the past. I was told that my card was shown in suspended status, the representative did not know why. He also told me that no one at his office had the authority to correct the problem. I wrote the corporate office and eventually someone corrected the problem. They still claimed that my debit card issuer had refused to honor the charge.

Several bills were submitted in the interim and paid with no problem.

I received an email on 1/13/08 indicating that an amount of $284.43 was due on my account. I called Charter on 1/13/08 and spoke to Andrew. He indicated that Charter showed that card in a suspended status as of 1/4/08. Andrew also indicated that he was unable to help me with this matter. Andrew advised me to contact my financial institution. Andrew was also not able to clearly explain why the total demanded is $284.43 when only one monthly payment of approximately $114 is due. I contacted my card issuer and they said no charge was submitted by Charter.

I made Charter aware of this problem and I urge any other Charter customers that have been overcharged in this manner to complain to Charter Corporate and if their complaint is not addressed immediately to file a report to their State's Attorney general.

Don't bother with the BBB it is a waste of time.
