American Leisure/Easy Saver charged my credit card $14.95 monthly for three months without permission. This was in response to a coupon trial offer, now less! After contacting the number listed, 1-877-564-8538 in vain, I turned this fraudent charge over to my credit card company.
I was told the amounts would be credited back to me and a permanent block would be issued against this company. I was also told this practice is widespread and what happens is these "outlaw" companies will have very deceptive instructions in the 'fine print' of the so-called "free offer" or "free trial". Whereas most trial offers indicate one check a box if they do not wish to continue with a membership, these companies actually reverse the wording, and if a consumer actually checks the box (es), it authorizes the company to continue the membership!
I have forwarded my complaint to my local news investigative reporters in order to get the word out, however please advise anyone trying for any internet or TV "free trials" just beware!
