Stomp Inc
Stomp Inc The Mail In Rebate Ripoff consumer fraud victimized many consumers

Internet & Web

Stomp, Inc. Is a software company that manufacturers and sells a compact disk label package for labelling your CD's burned on a personal computer. The day that I purchased thier software kit, it was advertised with a $10.00 mail in rebate offer. As much as I hate to waste time with rebates, $10.00 was an amount I couldn't justify giving away to a corporation out of laziness.

I purchased the software on 3/4 and followed the rebate instructions to a T. I mailed the forms, reciept, and UPC in one envelope via the United States Postal Service on 3/7. The rebate form specifies that the request must be postmarked within 15 days of purchase and as you can see, I complied with thier terms and conditions.

On August 5, I sent a letter to the corporation along with copies of everything sent with my origional rebate request. The rebate form had indicated a 12 week waiting period and that time frame had far passed since I mailed the origionals. My letter was unanswered.

On August 26, I sent another letter to the corporation and again included copies of my previous correspondence. Much to my surprise, a representative named Jorge Pacheco replied to my letter of complaint. Here's what "Jorge" said...

"We did recieve your rebate and it was processed on May 8. However, it was marked void by our rebate department. The reason Sent In Late. For this reason you have been denied the $10.00 rebate. I have personally contacted the Rebate department and had them pull out all the actual physical rebate paperwork you sent in. According to the postmark date on the envelope, you sent all paperwork May 20 not on May 7 as you claim."

Here's a heads up for you "Jorge"... I am not a genius by any standards but just how in the hell did your rebate department process my request and Void it on May 8th if I didn't even mail it until May 20th??? I propose that either you are a lying slacker and never actually investigated my paperwork as you claim, or you work for a company that is actively screwing consumers by advertising rebates and then Voiding them upon arrival.

I would like to think that a Corporation has far better things to do than defraud individuals in this manner, but part of me has to wonder if taking $10.00 from every poor sap that's purchased your software might just add up to a nice extra profit. I could forget about the $10.00, but I refuse to forget that you damn near called be a liar and then told me to "Have a good week." Your company is not the only one that has taken me for a ride, but it certainly is the only one that allowed a representative to lie, cheat, and offer the worst customer service response that I have ever seen.
