I received an email congratulating me on my winnings. They had "chosen" me from a list of email addresses they aquired somehow. And it was for a promotional program.

They then gave me a bunch of numbers to verify that I was the "star" winner of a wopping 847,000 US dollars.

Of course they would need my name, address and phone number to process the funds to me.
