Pop up control ripoff

I tried to send a valentine to my wife and kept getting a pop up called "drive cleaner" which tried make me install their program. I managed to close all of it's windows and send the card. When my wife tried to open the card on her computer, the same pop up occured and took over her computer. All her windows froze and she had to reboot without ever getting to view the card.
