The Music Members Area
TheMusicMembersArea For 38 I got nothing but a web address I could not access ripoff Nationwide

Internet & Web

I wanted to sign up with a music download provider and a friend recommended Lime Wire. I entered the words "lime wire" into my search engine, and a page of information duly appeared about this company. I continued reading until I found out how much money Lime Wire wanted for a lifetime subscription - this figure roughly tallying with what my friend said he had paid for his membership. At the right hand side of this page were a few tempting words about other organizations also offering music downloading - or rather, appearing to do so.

My eye was taken by The Music Members Area, and I duly went through the enrolment procedure - although I still don't know why I did so - the cost of their service not being significantly cheaper than Lime Wire's. I entered my debit card details, but did not proceed to the final page authorizing the money to be taken from my account.

I wanted to sleep on my decision to sign up with these people. I then received an e-mail of the sort you cannot reply to listing that I was to be billed 38.73 with a question mark after it. I assumed this question mark meant I had not yet committed to this purchase.

A day later I found 37.99 had been debited from my account. I immediately called my bank's fraudulent transactions hotline and was told to try to contact the company and ask for my money back. I did manage to e-mail The Music Members Area and asked for a refund because I had not downloaded or attempted to download any music, but they replied I had passed the 7 day deadline for such a refund.

I then e-mailed them saying I was unhappy about entering sites where my computer threw up warnings about entering unsafe websites at me, and received the reply that I should not pay any attention to these - their site was perfectly safe.

Since then, I have made numerous attempts to enter their website, but am greeted with the message that says "This Page Cannot Be Displayed". The last time I tried their web address I found the link to consumer complaints, and that is how I come to be writing this story. I will be contacting my bank again and seeking their help in retrieving my money.
