Rodopi
Software Rip-Off

Internet & Web

I am an Internet Service Provider. I was shopping for a piece of software that would help automate my business. I came across a product called RODOPI that is supposed to do this. They offer a FREE trial version that will support up to 100 users.

In order to implement the trial version properly, the people at RODOPI told me that I needed to purchase a credit card module made by a 3rd party called ICVERIFY (Made by Cybercash). I went ahead and ordered the program and paid $395.00. Subsequently I tried as hard as I could to get RODOPI setup but found it extremely difficult and confusing. When I asked RODOPI for help setting it up, they told me I had to buy the program to get support. So much for a FREE TRIAL!

I tried on my own for another month or so and then finally gave up and found another program that works better. When tried to return the ICVERIFY to RODOPI they told me that I could not return unopened software despite the fact that when I spoke directly with Cybercash (the manufacturer of ICVERIFY) they said that they would take it back from me if I had bought it directly from them.

So basically I'm out almost $400!!! I'd happily accept up to a 15% restocking fee and pay for shipping in both directions, but to eat the entire $400 for a piece of software that I cannot use is rediculous. This program is serialized and must be registered with Cybercash to operate, so pirating is impossible!

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks,

Dan Vesely
