I bought a Seagate hard drive from tigerdirect.com with a $50 rebate. The rebate was to be handled by onrebate.com. I followed all of directions for submitting the rebate.

After a month the site still didn't show that I had sent in the forms. I called 11/2/05 & after waiting 45 MINUTES on hold was told they "Probably" had it & they were "Overwhelmed with submissions from Sept." But I had "nothing to worry about as long as it was postmarked on time."

11/3/05 the site said the rebate was accepted.
11/7/05 I got an email saying the payment was processed & I would receive a check in 8-10 WEEKS! I emailed and got an auto-reply saying they would answer in 72hours. I never got a reply, so I called again & was told it really was 8-10 DAYS.

I gave them the 8 weeks anyway, but on 1/5/06 I sent another email & got another auto-reply saying I would have a response within 72 hours. Again, It never came. After doing a Google search I came up with this website and the email address for Nadina Urdaneta who apparently handled cases such as this. I emailed her & she quickly replied and apologized. She said that the check was written & sent but since it had never been cashed, they would issue another one immediately. I would receive the check in 7-10 days.

After 10 days I emailed Ms. Urdaneta to tell her the check did not arrive this time either, But I never got a reply.

I called today & after waiting on hold for 25min they asked me to hold again while they checked on it. 5 Minutes later they picked up the phone and asked me for the tracking # again and put me back on hold. Then disconnected the call. I called a 2nd time & waited another 25min before anyone answered. This time "Danny" said the check had NOT been sent the 2nd time & she didn't know why. She said she would PERSONALLY fix the problem & would mail ANOTHER check.

Instead of waiting 10 days to see I didn't receive it again, I asked to have it sent by PayPal at no charge this time. Their site claims this way you get the rebate "almost instantaneously" although Danny said it would be at least 3 days for them to even process the refund. When I asked why, she said they had to stop payment on the 2nd check. I reminded her she just said it had never been sent. She then said she meant the 1st one. I am still waiting to see if I actually get a rebate.

I really think this company is due for a class action lawsuit.
