Symantec
Unusable Product Does not refund money or deal fairly ripoff Cupertino California

Internet & Web

I purchased a new computer with a Trialware version of Norton Internet Security. Because the Trialware was only good for 90 days, I purchased the full disk version of NIS on the same day. When I got close to the end of the 90 period, I installed the disk version on my computer. I entered the activation codes which allow me a full year of use.

My software would not update. It continued to tell me my anti-virus would expire in a few days, and once installed, it blocked access to the internet so that I couldn't activate it nor update it.

I began a long series of emails with Symantec techs involving pages and pages of things to do to uninstall, clean up installation, reconfigure script blocking, use a special uninstall program, etc.

At the end of weeks of this, nothing worked. They refuse to do anything more, and since I haven't fully activated the product within 15 days of installing it (because it won't let me) it now is deactivated and won't work.

The whole thing was a waste of $89.99. They won't refund my money. This may be the worst company I have ever dealt with. I would warn people to consider using something else.
