Iomega
Unconscinoable fees when their equipment fails, and you lose your data, Ripoff

Internet & Web

A Fair Warning to all who would store valuable data on Iomega Hard Drives.

No one should ever think that their data is safe and secure on an Iomega external Hard Drive-thinking that, "Well... If my computer fails, or is attacked by a trojan or worm, or experiences a serious system crash... My date will all be safe and sound on the Iomega external Hard Drive"... It will NOT be safe and sound there-for Iomega equipment fails just like anything else.
The shocking thing is there is no avenue to address the problem. What you get is the automated responses. There is no one there but a virtual company - which considers the failure of their equipment and the subsequent loss of your data "not their problemo".

They will provide you with only two things=
A) interminable troubleshooting procedures... Even though your own computer tells you that "This device is not working=replace the device"

... No amount of troubleshooting will reveal anything other than what you already know... The Iomega has stopped working... Period.

B) And they will give you the address of a "Data REcovery" company... Who, you should all know, will explain to you on the phone, that it will cost at least $500... And the average cost is about $1,500 U.S.

Everyone be warned =

Your data is NOT safe and secure on the external Hard Drive. Whatever you do, don't put anything you value on Iomega products. I recommend that you not buy Iomega products to begin with.
