Rebate RIPOFF did not honor their rebate

I just found this site;and what happened to me was about 2 years ago.
Around Xmas time I bought a 120 gig Maxtor harddrive from Best Buys. It was advertised with a $50.00 rebate. I paid cash. I sent Maxtor the requested information plus I even included the UPC off the box. I got a letter back from them saying that I had approx. 5 days to get verification of the sale, back to them. They had my receipt. I paid for it with cash. Hence, I had no way to prove I had bought their harddrive. I guess when it comes to rebates, a safe thing would be to pay for it with a card so you have some type of record.
I am still very upset at all of this BS. It seems that when someone like me comes along and gives up all records to Maxtor, then they know they can get away with not having to honor their rebates. (And I had always thought they were an honorable company) Plus, I think this harddrive kinda sucks. It seems to "stick" sometimes. I was better off with my no name brand. I wish I had never gotten it in the first place.
