Rebate cancellation false promises

I submitted my rebate 11/11 for $70.00 to Wheresmyrebate, they handle this rebate offer for GEM. I was told on 2/4 it would be mailed on 2/12/02. I called again on 3/6/02 and was advised it would now be sent on 3/12/02. I checked their website today which showed an estimated mailing date of 2/9/02. When called I was advised by "Brenda" GEM had stopped the rebate. She could not explain when it was discontinued or why my check was not sent. She told me to call GEM but I only get recordings.
