Used Motherboard rip-off from motherboardmadness.com

Internet & Web

I planned on upgrading my p.C. From a 486 to a Pentium. My cousin gave me a Cyrix Pentium chip, so all I needed was a motherboard. I did not have much money, so I decided to shop around for a used one. I found an ad for used Pentium motherboards for $26 in the classifieds on excite. The ad stated that he would include documentation for the jumper settings or the website for the settings. I ordered the motherboard, asking for the chipset to be set for a Cyrix 166 processor. I got the motherboard and it was not set correctly, I e-mailed the seller (E185@aol.com) for the the documentation about the chipset, and he advised me to go to the website fica.com. I did find documentation for the board VA-501, which is what I ordered from him, but it turns out that the board is only closely related, and the jumpers for clock speed and and votages did not exist.

I e-mailed him and him about the problem, and that I wanted my money back since I could not get it to work. He agreed on Mar. 1 to send me the money. I made numerous attempts at asking for my $26 dollars back and kept getting the run-around from him, he was always asking what my address was and promising that I would get my money back, or it will come in due time. I told him that maybe $26 dollars did not mean much to him, but it sure does to me and that he would expect the same from purchase that did not work. I have still not received payment from him.

I did purchase another used motherboard from a different party and the documentation on fica.com did match exactly to the motherboard. I just want my money back from E186@aol.com, and want others to know that if you are ordering a used motherboard from motherboardmadness.com, you might want to be careful.
