Telephone harassment of law firm 1st Credit of America is actually Alyon Technology

I am the office manager for a law firm. Beginning early August, our firm received numerous telephone calls from an automated system directing us to call 1-866-505-8249 about an account. I assumed this was some type of sales call and ignored it for some time.

When the calls continued (at least one per day, including weekends), I finally called back to the telephone number on 8/26/05. I spoke with someone who identified himself as "Michael." I explained to "Michael" that the dialer was contacting a law firm and that, unless his company had business with this firm, the calls should immediately stop. "Michael" told me he couldn't understand why we were receiving the calls because the firm's number wasn't on 1st Credit of America's data base. "Michael" refused to provide me with 1st Credit of America's mailing address or fax number. I again told "Michael" that the telephone calls to this office must stop immediately.

To no one's great surprise I'm sure, the telephone calls from the automated dialer did not stop. If anything, the pace picked up. I again contacted 1st Credit of America on 08/12/05, and asked to speak with a supervisor or manager. I was transferred to a voice mail, where I left a message to call back. I did not receive a return phone call.

Still, the telephone calls from the automated dialer continued. Since yesterday morning I have been calling 1st Credit of America, but there is no answer when I call.

I have contacted the AG's office in Oregon, the FTC, the State of Illinois, and the BBB in Chicago. It was during these conversations that I learned 1st Credit of America is actually Alyon Technology. After some research on my part, I discovered that a number of states have taken action against Alyon. Unfortunately, it appears that Alyon simply did not learn it's lesson from past legal actions. If anything, it seems Alyon has become more bold in it's illegal practices - how out of control does one company have to be before contacting a law firm sounds like a good idea??!!??
