Ripoff, lies about status of rebate Miami

I purchased a MachSpeed motherboard on 3-8-05 from Tiger Direct. Their ad said the motherboard supported 12 megs of Ram. After building it, I found it only suported 3 megs.

I contacted Tiger, and they basically said "oh, well... Send it back; must have been a typo". Anyway, too much work went into building the system, and I couldn't afford down-time by sending it back. So I kept it. Next, the rebate.

MachSpeed signed for my rebate form on 3-18-05. Six weeks later when I contacted Machspeed, they said I never sent in the form.

I then contacted Tiger. I retained signature cards for proof of delivery. They agreed to "make good" the rebate by refunding me $55 to my Paypal account. Weeks went by and nothing.

I contacted Tiger, and on 5-13, they said they were sending me a check because they were having difficulty with Paypal. This is funny, as they had NO problem getting my money from Paypal when I sent it to Tiger.

It is now 10 days later and still no check from Tiger. It doesn't take 10 days for mail ANYwhere in the continental US to get to the destination.

Rebates are nothing more than a free loan for a company to use customer's millions of rebate dollars to collect intrest on for several months. I have a feeling that most people don't bother sending them in, or using a proof-source for delivery, and the rebate companies simply keep that money.

I have been in the computer industry since green screens and dot matrix printers. Computer parts are now a disposable commodity and Tiger Direct really doesn't have any deals unless you use a rebate.

In other words, Tiger has no deals unless you want to loan them some money for a while.

If anyone wants parts like Tiger has, goto (see link below) and see 100x what Tiger has, and guess what? No rebates.
