Rebatestatus.com ripoff rebate fraud

In Oct 04 I purchased KByte memory during bestbuy.ca "grand openning". The memory was a specil "door crasher" for this event, and advertised to be almost free AFTER REBATE. I received the prodcut, and submitted the reabte form/UPC.
Feb 1/05 I received a card from Kbyte indicating my rebate was denied for "invalid purchase date for promotion" This could not have been possible as i purchased on the first day of the special sale. I called the number indicated and the CSR agreed to process my rebate under a different promotion. Strange, if it was supposedly invalid wouldn't they want me to submit some proof? I noticed the satus updated on reabtestatus.com to "approved"
It's now the first week of April and no rebate has arrived. A check of the status at reabtestatus.com shows my history of rebates from other companies, some recieved before the kbyte one even submitted, but not a trace of the Kbye rebate that formerly said to be approved.
I googled terms like "kybe rebate scam" and find a massive number of complaints very similar to mine. I asked bestbuy to intervene, and they called Kbyte. Apparently Kbyte advised it takes 6-8 weeks to process after my claim was "resubmitted" (fixing their mistake by phone). By my math, from feb 1 to first wek in April is already longer then that. Supposedly now my rebate will be sent the end of April. Why would it possibly take that long after they already screwed up?
I would advise anyone purchasing Kbyte product with a rebate to search online for the huge number of problems with ther rebate "mistakes" often on purchases from bestbuy.
