Fraudulent Billing

Internet & Web

This company sent me a bill for dialing up a phone number in the United Kingdom (presumed to be an adult internet site that poped up on me). I neither consented to entering any site, charges incurred or establishing an account. I believe the company or it's client (since it may be a third-party billing operation) used spyware to get my IP address or otherwise hacked into my computer. Hence, my telephone number was hijacked to use as their account number.

The companuy threatens to send your account to collection if you don't pay, so I sent my bill and a complaint to the FBI and DOJ for follow up. I later looked at some websites that mention that several state's attorney's generals are investigating the company for the very same fraudulent activites.

The company has a "business" address of P.O. Box 155579, Fort Worth, Texas, 76155-5579, but a mailing address (for payment) to P.O. Box 10718, Bedford, NH, 03110. The telephone number is (800) 449-0293, but it is always busy. Make sure you report these guys if you get a bill that you believe to be fraudulent, I did.
