Circuit City City Advantage Ripoff misled service takes foreve

CC give a good sales pitch. They didn't give me a copy of the actual warranty or I would have cancelled it quickly.

Called CityAdvantage 11-13. It was decided my mobo was the problem. At this point the computer was working, although poorly.

On 11-30,17 days later, the mobo was replaced. It still didn't work as it should so I tried to reformat. It won't reformat and won't fdisk. It has totally crashed.

Called them back 12-1, they are ordering another mobo so I guess another 17 days or so. Meanwhile, no computer at all.

While they praise this plan there's a lot they don't tell. They get 3 trys to fix before they replace. And, if it comes to replacement, at their option they can stick you with a REFURBISHED computer.

There cute little brochure says "free repair or replacement - with no hassles for you." That's b/s. I would say having a totally dead computer is quite a hassle.

I'd have been better off without the warranty. I could have taken the $269.99 I wasted on this and bought a new mobo (we had already figured out that was what it was before calling them) and I'd be back up and running. As it is, let's see, 17 days for the first "repair" (which made it worse), if I'm lucky I might have a working computer by the first of the year.
