Health & Medicine

I have been trying to have a baby the natural way for over 6 years and figured since I am now 30 I would try IVF. I wish I had selected a better clinic because the last month and a half has been the worst days of my life!

The initial visit was all right and the doctor, Dr. Wood seemed to be knowledgeable which was good. However, when it came to the nurses in their Pembroke Pines location it was something else! The nurses were not knowledgeable, had a heavy accent, and were not sanitary.

The nurses would touch their lips, counters, condoms, and would get nasty when I or my husband would ask them to please wash their hands and put gloves before touching my vaginal area. However, this was the least of the problems when it came to the their nurses. The worst nurse was Yari (spelling may not be accurate) she had the heaviest accent and would always read and measure my ultrasounds/sonograms incorrectly. Even Dr. Bustillo from the South Miami location confirmed that Yari was reading the ultrasounds. Sonograms incorrectly! One day after my husband and I noticed that Yari measured incorrectly saying that follicles shrink (of which they don't) we pointed it out to her and she got into an argument with my husband. The Pembroke Pines office manager decided to transfer us to the South Miami office and the first visit it seemed okay.

I will give it to the nurse Joanna from South Miami for being cheerful and nice. However, Dr. Bustillo, the other doctor who I was transferred to was dry and wasn't very pleasant. When it comes to infertility doctors should be more compassionate—they are dealing with such a delicate time in their patient's lives and she did not seem to care! When going through infertility treatments the follicles should be at least 20cm and she started triggering at 18cm which I was weary of. I spoke up and she wasn't having it. She said that my state and age, I shouldn't waste no one cycle—seeing I was there for a reason I went ahead and fell for her lies! A week later I had a progesterone blood test done and my levels were low. At this time a nurse by the name of Olayne called me to let me know my levels were low and stated I was not pregnant (I have yet to take a blood pregnancy test!) I called their office manager, Oscar to point this out and he did not seem to care that their nurse diagnosed me! I was a bit upset and started crying because of the bad news and he said we were too sensitive and to realize that I am either pregnant or not pregnant. But a blood pregnancy test and second progesterone level test were not done. I was kicked out of their practice for being too sensitive! I am now in limbo and do not know whether I am pregnant or not. I have questions and concerns and called the office to get my medical records. When my husband called they said they mailed our medical records, yet our address was incorrect and probably mailed out to our old address. When I called they put me on hold and after waiting over 5 minutes they hung up on me! I was only calling because our new doctor needs to have documentation so I am not doubly medicated.

Last night we got a call from a police officer telling us that we would be charged with a misdemeanor harassment! The funny thing is this police officer was in the Broward district (probably a friend of Oscar's to try to 'threaten' us.) The police officer said that my husband had an altercation with Oscar and that we were harassing him and his staff and were non-stop calling the office interfering with their daily business. We were never in the office so him arguing with my husband is a complete lie! Plus we each only called twice—I highly doubt that messes up with their daily operations! I now do not have my medical records and hope I remember everything so I am able to get correct and better treatment from the new doctor!
