Ripoff probability, dishonest, wrong names/addresses, different rates than quoted from last calle

We were contacted by an "insurance" company that gives 'discounts' on medical bills, some'up to' 80%. They offered a 'free trial' of 30 days, but had to pay $100 plus the first month upfront.

I listened and knew what it was. I asked many questions, one being the part about the 'up to' percentage. None were ever answered to my satisfaction. I said I'd talk to my husband and we'd get back with them or they could call us back at a later date. I ignored all calls until my husband was here.

They called back today, 6/2/04, and started their sales ritual again. I handed the phone to my husband. He said 'free trial' and I told him to ask if there was a credit card involved. No, but a check over the phone would do. I told him to ask if the money was taken out then or after the 30 days. Then. I shook my head at him and told him if something is a free trial, you don't pay for it first.

They did everything they could to get us to sign up for it today. I'm a nurse and a skeptic. I've seen too much. We got a website and address and I got started. I did a "who-is" looked them up with the BBB and a little online. They gave the following names:

Health Care Advantage (didn't find it linked to them in Florida.)
Health Care Advance
Health Care Plans

The Better Business Bureau of Southeastern Florida gave

1.) Nature of Business as: This company offers a medical discount program.
2.) Customer Experience as: Based on BBB files, this company has an UNSATISFACTORY record with the Bureau due to unanswered complaints.
3.) Additional Telephone Numbers: (888) 353 9828 and (954) 977-9828.
4.) Additional Addresses:

The representatives of this company did their best to get us to take this "medical" coverage" out. There were so many discrepancies I was skeptical from the beginning. Oh, they were good! Sweet and smooth talkers! Have a website and no materials, to go to website and information in a weekend, NOT!

Look through this information and note the dicrepancies in the phone numbers, addresses, etc. We didn't get ripped off. That's why I'm posting this here. To keep someone else from getting ripped off. If someone offers you a 'free trial' and asks for money in ANY form, don't do it!!! A free trial is just that&its FREE! And before you go with any company, check them out. Do a "Whois"&just type whois in your search engine and you'll have plenty of places to do your search. You enter the website address and it tells you about that company.

Find out where that company is located and where the main office is located and do a search with the Better Business Bureau in that location.

Check out the site you're on right now. They're probably on here if they're a rip-off.

Please! Check these companies out! If it sounds too good to be true, MOST of the time it is! Good luck and no rip-offs!
