Health & Medicine

So I've been looking at getting health insurance. My spouse was looking up quotes for me on ehealthinsurance.com. She apparently put my phone number in a required field, and I got a call from an agent from US Health Brokers.

Since I am actually looking for insurance, I let her talk to me. At first, I was completely taken in, but I obviously wanted to do some research before I schilled out $250 a month plus an application fee. I googled the name of the company they were trying to sell insurance for (US health.) and found that there were scammers using that name.

I called back with a little more caution in mind, and asked for a printed policy. The person on the phone, a different person who said he was Tekoa's manager, said that that was no longer the way Health care was done anymore, and said that there was a "free look" period instead. He implied that a fifty page document was not something that was reasonable to expect to be mailed.

I said I was uncomfortable with sending money without seeing a printed policy first, and he said, I quote "Well, I guess you're not comfortable with getting insurance, buddy." and ended the call promptly. He was polite, but rather brusque once I made it clear that I wasn't going to pay for something that I couldn't have information on.

If it's wrong to want to read actual benefits before shilling out three figures a month for them, I don't want to be right. I'd advise steering clear of Us Health Brokers. If anyone wishes to file a rebuttal, please explain why I should pay a hundred dollars to apply for a plan that I can't see the text of first?
