Overcharging

I went to Dr. Procter this morning to have my hernia exam performed. His words upon examining me were " Wow, you have a real hernia." His assistant Sylvia then checked me out and told me I needed to go to the NE Ga Medical centers fianancial counseler. I did. She asked me to provide 4 months paystubs, Picture ID and proof of residence, and fill out an information sheet. I did so. My surgeon Dr. Procter agreed to charge me 1000.00 without insurance and 2000.00 with. I opted for 1000.00 due to the fact I cannot afford a realistic insurance policy. I am ok with that, somewhat.

However, my problem was when Neomi Savatierra told me in order for Dr. Procter to use their facilities, ect. That their fee (NE Ga medical ctr) would be $16,000, and due to the fact that a hernia is not considered a life threatening issue, I would have to pay a $5,000.00 deposit. Well, www.ncbi. Nlm. Nih. Gov seems to be different in opinion whether or not my tennis ball size hernia is life threatening. Should I go to Canada? Why am I being taking advantage of. I a country I served. I suppose if my hernia strangulates and loses blood circulation and results in my death. Then NE Ga Medical Center is responsible.
