Aetna Inc
Tried to recruit me to work from home using a computer they provided but software I purchased

Health & Medicine

I was contacted by Aetna about potential job openings; working from home. I was told that I needed to set up a yahoo messenger account and would be in contact with a Mrs. Florence Mogan, Director once I had that accomplished. I did that and she and I proceeded to have a 3.5 hour online interview. At the end of the interview; I was offered the job and then later sent the offer letter and a JPEG file that needed my signature, DOB on it; along with my physical address.

I was told the company would supply me with a laptop, the only thing I needed to do was purchase the software for the program; to the tune of $480. I told them I couldn't really handle the $480 and they agreed to take half of it upfront and the next half would come out of my first check. I had to verify that I had a fax machine, copier, scanner and printer at my house. Everything needed to be up and running to begin my employment.

Everything sounded great but then, having a brother who is a cop helped out. He had heard about this scam, called the nigerian scam and sent me a link about the same. It stated the company operated the same exact way. I kept asking for the phone number to call this lady; having never spoken to her and was finally provided with a number that was not in service because they were upgrading their service.

I got really suscipious and was able to call my bank the same day and they called Western Union and were able to pull the funds out before they were distributed to this "vendor". Basically, out three days of work and the $32 processing fee but that's it. I called Aeta's main number from the website and verified that this was a scam—Aetan would never ask for money up front. Beware consumers!
