I had an appointment with Dr Cole in November for an extraction and to prepare an upper denture for me... I was told that they had to re submit a request for an approval from the insurance company. I sat in the dental chair and noticed that there was blood in the dental sink and dried blood on the outside of it. The dental assistant was cursing loudly in another room. I asked Dr Cole what i could do address my dental problem until I get the approval.

Dr Cole told me that the reason I have periodontal disease is because of my dirty habits. WHAT??? I brush my teeth at least 5 times a day and use mouth wash several times a day. It's a genetic problem. How dare he speak to me that way. I then tried to sell me a temporary tooth for $350. I called them on January 13th to see if my approval came through yet. I was told that some lady comes to pick up the approval request every few weeks and that she just picked it up a week ago. I called the insurance company and they told me that they never heard of such a thing. I know this whole this whole issue is a money thing... I had private health insurance all my life. I paid full price for dental services all my life UNTIL I lost my business a few years ago... I've had NY State Health Insurance this past year. I am aware that medical and dental fees are paid at a reduced rate. Hey Dr Cole if you do not want to take care of us less fortunate then take yourself off the state insurance list. Why should I lose my teeth because you are unethical!!
