Money Hungry Owners of High-end Treatment Centre Prey On The Vulnerable

I have read reports from unhappy clients and staff from A Home Away and wholeheartedly agree that this unregulated facility is not doing work that is in the best interest of anyone but it's greedy owners, who have managed to expand their empire from one home to four in five short years.

While at Home Away I watched as clients were counseled to leave their spouses and/or break ties with family that John Derry did not approve of. I was also subjected to ineffective counselling from a crack addict with less than a year's sobriety under his belt (he started using again shortly after I left). Later, John's own son — who has absolutely no counselling experience of any kind — took over the counselling sessions!!! He is a lovely boy, but I did not pay thousands of dollars to have an amateur play doctor.

My biggest complaint is how I was treated by John, who seemed to take perverse pleasure in humiliating people and calling them names. Jane was not much better. At one point I became clinically depressed and was lying in my bed crying when Jane came to my room and told me to get to the next session now or pack my bags and leave. I stayed because I didn't want to lose the money I'd paid but I'm sure the Derry's would have been thrilled if I'd left.

I encourage others to come forward and let the Derry's and regulators know that people at their most vulnerable are being taken advantage of my con artists who have lost sight of why they became addiction counselors in the first place.
