Bad business. Pick your dentist with care

I am writing this review for anyone who is considering the dentistry office located at this address 6068 S Apopka Vineland Rd # 6, Orlando, FL 32819. Anthony Oswick was the dentist whom I saw at this establishment. Let me first say that I chose this particular dentist office because it was listed as a emergency dental facility online. I had been in moderate pain for a few weeks but the last few nights had been unbearable. I called Dr. Oswick's office on a Saturday morning and to my surprise he answered the phone. I should have known to find it odd that a dentist would take his own calls but pain superseded my judgment. I informed Dr. Oswick that a filling had fallen out and I was in severe pain. Dr. Oswick told me that it would be 42 dollars to assess the situation. Well, when I arrived the receptionist who gave me the paperwork to be signed looked in my mouth and told me the cost would be 142 dollars to diagnose because of x-ray costs. I found this to be odd also because of the discrepancy of the price quoted but I have been in severe pain and just wanted a remedy. I do not have insurance so this was an out of pocket expense. Dr. Oswick examined my mouth and told me that I needed to have a root canal and cap preferably or the removal of the tooth. The cost varied from 1900 to 350 for these procedures. Now, the dentist confirmed what I had known without the necessity of x-rays, and that was that 1 tooth needed attention. I told Dr. Oswick that I could afford neither of the operations because I was a full-time student and unemployed. I also explained to him that he had taken most of the money that I had allocated for a remedy and provided me with what I had already known.
I left the dentist's office visibly upset and remembered that the receptionist owed me change. I also figured that I should at least have my x-rays since I PAID for them. When I returned to the office I tried to explain to the receptionist that I had been quoted two different prices and now I am left further away from help than I was before I had come to them. Dr. Oswick magically appears from nowhere and tries to explain why and legally how he basically stole money from me. To add insult to injury he then at that point asks me if I wanted a prescription. Really..? A "prescription" I asked him rhetorically..."No, I was seeking a resolution." I left the office advising those in the waiting room to pay heed to what they just witnessed. When I arrived home Dr. Oswick called and told me that normally there is a 45 dollar charge to receive a copy of an x-ray but because I made a scene that he was going to charge me now.in response, I told him that I would write what I am dictating to you. There are literally hundreds of dentists in central Florida, one needs only to google "dentist" to be barraged with choices. Do your research and chose a dentist that will be honest and upfront with you.
