ALR Lied about being an insurance company!

I received a fax, in a GOVERNMENT office! From this company saying they offer affordable health insurance. This company told me they would give me healthcare insurance. Two months after getting my 'insurance' I went to the OBGYN doctor for my annual appointment and they told me they never heard of this 'insurance' so they called the number on the back of the card to see if they cover my particular doctor... And to my surprise I find out from the receptionist that this is a discount card! What the heck!? And they only cover about $50.00 of the appt (which could total up to $300, including labs and all). I was outraged and was unable to keep my appointment.

ALR told me while I was signing up that I would have 6 free visits to the doctor every year, and than pay a $20-30 copay for preventative care appointments.

I am very scared because I was also in the ER last night with a kidney stone and had to have a CT scan and medications, fluids, etc. Supposedly I would have only had to pay a $75.00 co pay for the ER, but now after finding out a day later (today) that this is only a DISCOUNT card, I am worried of the expenses I will be facing from my ER visit.

This is just ridiculous! And what is ironic, is that I am a registered nurse and can't even find health insurance for myself! My company doesn't offer it, and I am having the hardest time finding it on my own.
