Just another Insurance Company weaseling their way out of doing their jo

I have never been so disgusted with such a company in my life. This insurance company is royally pathetic and I can't wait to change to another one. Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield will take your money at ridiculously high premiums (and even higher deductibles, mine is $3,500 for individual) and find any possible loophole to weasle their way out of covering you when you need it most.

I am a recent college graduate and I didn't know squat about deductibles, premiums, etc. So I called Highmark in hopes of someone helping me and explaining the benefits, they did a half-assed, "could care less" job, getting actually annoyed at my questions, and so STUPIDLY I chose the one I THOUGHT made the most sense to me and was affordable.

Big Mistake #1- signing up for Highmark health insurance

Unfortunately about a WEEK before my plan started I became very ill and was urinating gross (large) amounts of blood which obviously I felt couldn't wait so I went to the Dr - it turned out to be merely a UTI and an isolated case, which was a relief.

About a month later I started having pains in my back which took me to a urologist and I had to have a CT scan ran to ensure I was fine which was a completely different situation. I called beforehand to ensure CT scans were covered in my plan, mind you.

But guess what good old Highmark is doing? They are denying coverage of not only the CT scan (which I called and they said was covered in my plan) but they're also denying coverage on all drs visits for the past 3 months because of this "pre-existing condition" they keep riding from my UTI months back. Oh and also - they weaseled their way out of the whole HIPAA law by making the plan "medically underwritten" which conveniently no one explained to me when I asked what that meant when picking out a plan (I should have trusted my gut and known that meant something more than "Oh it's just the style of plan")

Now I understand some may say "You should have asked, you should have researched or found it out" but I feel like when I call into a company they should be staffed with people knowledgeable of what all of this means for the customer's benefit instead of brushing it off or not knowing. Also I'm new at dealing with this stuff on my own and didn't realize how disgustingly sheisty companies are - I'm aware now.

I am 23 years old and I'm buried in debt like a 80 year old lady all because of this swindling, sheisty, underhanded insurance company. I think the worst part is when I call into the customer service hotline, they have the cattiest, rude, hateful people working there who don't even need to be dealing with the general public with their toxic attitudes.

So thanks alot Highmark for your "life lessons" you've given me in never trusting an insurance company, or any company for that matter, because you're obviously just out to weasel your way out of doing your job and covering your clients when they need it most - you should just stop the guise and ask people just to give you money while you do nothing. I will never be purchasing from you again nor will I ever let anyone I love buy from you.
