Fraud fees! Had dental work done covered by ppo insurance and this company added additional fees to include a $75.00 fee for an alleged missed appointmnet that was canceled 72 hours in advance

My husband and I have full coverage PPO dental plan and went to Smiles by Design for checkup, X-rays and cleaning which is covered by our dental insurance. We were also still charged a Co-Pay for both of us sometime in January. We paid all of the required fees and our insurance covered the rest. The receptionist (Britney) is very rude (TEENAGER) and scheduled an appointment on my husbands work day after the check ups. We had a family emergency out of town and my husband called an canceled the appointment 72 hours in advance. Susan who works in billing and payments for Smiles by Design has since sent us to collections for $120,45 of which was for unpaid service fees and 75 of which was for a missed appointment. The collection company has been harrassing us repeatedly on a daily basis and we were never sent anything indicating a bill or envoice for payment of $125 from Smiles by Design. The appointment was canceled well in advance and we were still charged a fee for a missed appointment. We have attempted to contcat the company by phone and they refuse to explain anything to us. Susan claims there was never a cancled appointment in her records, however Britney is the call taker at the office and failed to report the cancelation. The staff there is rude, provides poor service and as soon as they see that you are not willing to pay for extra services then they attach a fraudulent balance to your account and come after you for outrageous fees. This is fraud and poor customer service. Smiles by Design or the collection agency REFUSE TO explain why there is an outstanding balance.
