NOt Trainers, Scammers, Billed me before I even signed contract

Health & Medicine

I am very interested in the health and fitness industry but have not work with a trainer at my new gym. I was approached by General Manager Geoff, who said that I could get one session for "free" because my gym had purchased them. Now, I know nothing is "free" but I figured I would go, listen and maybe get something out of it.

I met with him and it took 2 1/2 hours. I got nothing out of it. He was so distracted by everyone else at the gym, he barely made eye contact with me and had obviously not listened to anything that I had said the first time I spoke with him. This was apparent because he treated me as someone who was not familiar with any nutritional program or exercise program, when i have been doing it for years. The treat everyone the same!

It gets even better. After he does a 10 minute work out with me, he sits me down with a book, where he does his pitch. He gives me these inflated prices and then asks me what my health is "worth". So I tell him $20 a week and he calls Mr. Someone (I couldn't here what name he made up). I know he made it up because he pulled one of the oldest health club sales scams in the book. He told him about me and what I could pay and after the Oooooos and Aaaahs of the great rate the person was giving him for me, he asked if I could have his last Friends and Family pass. What a load of crap. He gets off the phone and offers me rates that were not what I wanted but better, and he automatically waived my enrollment fee ($99) if I signed up today. Of course the rate was only good that day and he wanted me to sign up.

Needless to say I didn't sign up, but went home to mull over it. I thought the final deal he gave me was pretty good because I wanted to work with a trainer, just not him. I called him and told him I would be in to fill paperwork out on Friday. The trainer couldn't meet with me on Friday, so I had to reschedule for Monday night.

While on vacation this past weekend, I check my bank account and they HAD CHARGED ME! I have not even signed a contract or EFT agreement. So, I call the gym and spoke with a trainer that never called me back. Then I speak to Geoff's boss, Filepe and he tells me that he will take care of it, first thing Monday morning and call me back. I still haven't heard from him. I went to my bank and filled out an affidavit, as this was a completely unauthorized transaction.

It's so unfortunate for the trainers that work for this company feel that the skills and knowledge that they have are not enough to make them money that they need to scam people out of it.

They are am embarrassment to the Personal Training industry and if you have the opportunity to hire them, DON'T!!
