Ditzler Family Chiropractic, Dr. Craig Ditzler
Unprofessional contract trickery! Deceptive!

Health & Medicine

I have been going to Chiros since the 80's. I recently moved here from WA and needed a chiro and found Ditzler online. I had to pay an enormous amount for x-rays but I was desperate to get treated. He then had me come in a few times before discussing fees. He has you sign a contract for a year and the monthly fees seem reasonable unless you have to cancel early. He told me not to worry that there would not be an early cancellation fee (and technically there is no cancellation fee). As far as chiropractic care, I would consider his services average. What was very annoying was Dr. Craig pushing his herbs everytime I went in. He also pushed a "atkins type" of diet when he has no training as a dietician.

Due to becoming unemployeed I had to cancel my contract. Dr. Craig confirmed my cancellation through email but said nothing about a cancellation fee or any other fees due. As far as I knew, I did not owe Dr. Craig any money. I received no phone calls or statements by mail, what I did receive a week before X-mas was a huge debit from my checking account. I thought I was paid current and suddenly he takes $518 out of my account without any notice. This amount was substantially higher than my monthly contract fee so I initially thought it was an error. I have tried resolving this with him personally but after him intitally avoiding me, he said that if he would have known we had become unemployed, he MAY not have done that.

He made no apologies for lack of notice on the additional fees that he charged and said that he realizes most people do not read the contracts. He said he told me that if I cancelled, he would go back and raise the prices on all my visits but I do not remember that conversation. I asked to be treated under the contract and to have him credit me the difference between the $518 and my regular contract amount but he refused to do so.instead he offered me 1 courteousy treatment that day if I could come in within the next couple of hours.

I found this practice to be very deceptive. The contract is not very clear on the issue. The fact that he tries to hide his fees or charges is very unprofessional. The least he could have done was send a statement letting me know of the pending charges. My husband stopped short of signing the contract and he sent him an invoice for a couple of visits. He never told him what price would be charged and the invoice shows no breakdown. It just shows a total due. Dirty & deceptive. Just find another Chiropractor!
