My Colon Remedy
Don't Order It—the Product Doesn't Work and They'll Ship it 'til you're broke

Health & Medicine

I ordered My Colon Remedy and Acai Berry Supplement because who doesn't want a free trial of two products that will supposedly cleanse your system of harmful carcinogens and boost your energy level?

For a few bucks in shipping charges, what could I lose?

Answer: A lot. For openers, somewhere in the fine print located deep in the bowels (pun intended) of their website there is legal language that says that 1. Not only will they charge you for the inital "free" trial order, but 2. They will also start shipping you a ridiculously expensive (like $150 or so) order of the two products every month into perpetuity!!!

Free trial offer my arse (pun intended). There's nothing free about it. They ask for your credit card or checking account number to charge you for the shipping on the "free tral offer, " and then all they do is wait 15 days to charge your account for the "free" stuff. If you haven't returned the product within the 15 days, you own it and they're on you like a bad case of herpes. They may never go away!

Worse, the product had little discernable effect. I took it religioulsy for a week or so over Christmas and on Christmas night I was as bloated and backed up as I have ever been. Both products come in clear gelatin capsules and both look identical — some light brown powdery substance. The colon remedy stuff claims to have a bunch of powdered herbs in it and the Acai Berry capsules are mostly B-Vitamins — for $150???

It gets better. Try to contact the company to cancel and you can't. The numbers they give you don't connect to anything. The live chat line on their website is not live — it tells you to leave a message. When you email them, they automatically send you a link to some FAQ's, but the questions don't link to any answers.

If you try to reply to their email it bounces back from an address that is "none@none.com"

So I'll be taking time off from work Monday to go to my bank and try to get these weasels out of my checking account.

To me, this seems like a carefully crafted scam, designed to get access to people's checking and credit card accounts, and then ship them snake oil and charge them through the nose for it.

My advice? Run, don't walk, RUN away from the next My Colon Remedy ad you see.
