Paramount Acceptance / Gold's Gym
Upkeep and Maintenance fee

I joined Gold's Gym in April for a 2-year contract. No problem there. When I renewed my Gold's Gym membership in March through Paramount Acceptance, I suddenly found I was charged an annual $15 'upkeep and maintenance' fee as they called it (which I just got charged again in July). Back in I had to complain. The Gold's salesperson did not reveal this new fee to me when I re-upped my membership.

Gold's said I needed to take it up with Paramount. But Paramount pointed out the section of the contract I signed with Gold's about the new annual additional fee, and they would not waive the $15 fee. Gold's said the new fee was from people dropping the weights all the time. I told them I never drop the weights since I am seriously into fitness. (My motto: If you have to drop the weights, start with the 5-pounders).

I also place the weights back, I wipe down the equipment, I don't leave trash behind, all this stuff that is also in the contract. I pointed this out to them stating: If you enforce the $15 additional fee section of the contract, please enforce the rest of the contract as well about being respectful while working out. I never received a response. Both Gold's Gym and Paramount Acceptance should be ashamed of this tactic. And be ashamed at how they do not enforce all parts of their contracts, only the parts that suit them when they need it.

Like when they charge this extra fee to unsuspecting members. So, I wll be leaving Gold's Gym in April. Another disgruntled good member leaves, while they allow the riff raff to continue to ruin the place until all the weights and machines are destroyed and they have to up the maintenance fee to $50 annually. Way to go Gold's and Paramount! This Marine and his buddies are done with you guys.
