Rip Off Policy they never tell you about

I took my cat to the emergency hospital and spent $5,000 to have her treated. While there she saw a neurologist, cardiologist, internal medicine, cancer specialist and general practitioner. So now I call to make an appointment to see the internal medicine doctor since my family vet was not able to provide the treatment the cat needed. Well, the girl on the phone tells me I need a referral to see a specialist! I told her I've been there before, seen all the specialists before so why do I need a referral now? She said the policy is that if it's an emergency you don't need a referral. Now that it's not an emergency I would first have to pay the general practitioner to give me a referral! I said well why would I pay the GP to tell me I need an internal med doc when I know that already? When I have seen the internal med doc (and all the specialists at the hospital for that matter) before for another problem? When I have spent $5,000 recently at this clinic! I should be able to see any vet I want. She just said "that's our policy." Was I ever informed of this policy before having my cat treated there? NO.

Well folks to me that is a complete rip off. They force you to pay their GP before you can again pay to see a specialist, even if you saw the same specialist in the past! An insured human with a PPO does not have to get referrals to see specialists or a human paying out of pocket, you just make the appointment and pay. Why this clinic thinks they are above that can only be to increase their revenues.

I am no longer a customer of this hospital. Between 4 cats I've spent $10,000 in the past year they have lost my business. I don't tolerate being poorly treated and ripped off.
