Worst company I have had to deal with

I signed up for LA Fitness and I was told that I would be able to get the money back that I initially paid if I cancelled right away. I attempted to cancel the membership when the gym opened, but they delayed the opening and so I missed the mark. I went into the gym and told them about it and they said that they don't know who told me I'd get my money back, but I was misinformed. I attempted to cancel, which apparently didn't go through, and so somehow without my knowledge I have been charged for the past year. I have never even stepped foot in the gym except for to cancel my membership. I was told I could not get any of my money back. I have been doubly screwed by the company. They are horrible, do not go to them if you can help it.
