Verbal misrepresentation of contract

After several days of pestering me by phone, I finally visited with Norris Evans, the general manager at Peak Fitness on Duraleigh Rd. I specifically told him that I only wanted to work out for a few months and that I had no interest in signing a yearly contract. Apparently Peak Fitness managers hear what they want to hear and he pulled out a one-year contract for me to sign. So unknowingly, I signed it, thinking it was a month-to-month membership/contract.

After one month, I tried to cancel the membership, but ABC financial said that I had signed a one-year contract and couldn't cancel it unless I relocated or transferred my membership to another person.

After speaking with Norris Evans, he told me that he "vaguely remember saying exactly" that he offered me a one-year contract. Apparently Norris Evans is even bad at lying.

I contacted the Regional Operations Manager, Todd Stark at Peak Fitness in Cary, who said that he would contact the corporate office and call me back the next day. After leaving 3 messages over 3 days, he never called me back.

These people are only interested in your wallet AND not your health. If the regional manager is just as bad as the general manager at lying, I would recommend going to other gyms in the Raleigh/Durham area. You just can't trust these people, especially Norris Evans.

I have even left messages with their billing services, ABC financial, and have never gotten calls back from them either.

I hope this complaint is proof that they are horrible from top to bottom. They are only interested in your money and not the quality of service they provide to their clients. Peak Fitness took over Beyond Fitness gyms, but nothing has changed.
