All Star Fitness
Closed their club with no warning, kept everyones money, violated their own contract and wouldn't take calls from upset customers

Do not use this gym!

They recently closed the doors on their Monroe, WA club without any warning to their customers.in violation of their own contract, they then attempted to transfer all memberships to a rival gym across town. They kept every penny of the money that they were pre-paid, again in violation of their own contract. Some members pre-paid thousands of dollars that the company decided to keep.in my case, they kept the money that I pre-paid and then had the audacity to call and tell me that I owed them $85. When I told them to take what they thought I owed them out of the money they owed me and send me the rest, they informed me that they sent my money to the other gym already. They told me that if I wanted my money back I had to go down to this other gym and sign up. I would then receive my money back in the form of 30 days membership at this other gym that I've never been to.

Their accounting methods could only be described as comical. They told me that when I signed up and paid my first months dues on the 22nd of the month, those dues did not cover the next 30 days, they paid for the calender month that I paid them in. So signing up on the 22nd meant that I paid for 21 days that I was not a member. Their crack team had a great solution for making that balance out. They told me that when I went down to this other gym that I had never been to and signed up and then immediately cancelled, I would get the initial 30 days that All Star Fitness owed me... Plus... I would get another 21 days of membership. With a straight face, they told me that the money they owed me was essentially converted to 51 days of free membership at some other gym.

So essentially what they did was transfer all the money they owed me to an outside gym, in violation of their contract terms. They then threatened to send me to collections because, according to their incoherent accounting system, I owed them money. At the end of the day, they owed me more money than they claimed I owed them, they could have balanced it out and sent me the remainder, but they chose to attempt to steal more money from me.

Other bad things this company does...

They tried to charge me a returned check fee of $20. It turns out that was a lie. They then said it was a late fee. After realizing that this was their first attempt to collect any money from me, they figured they probably couldn't get away with charging a late fee and dropped it.

As I was getting angrier and angrier talking to their accountant, I asked to speak to a manager. I was told that nobody in the company is taking calls on this issue. I said just transfer me to somebody, she refused. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I don't know how companies survive these days without valuing their customers.

I sent a letter to the president and the office manager and received no response. They can harass me and threaten to send me to collections, but the president doesnt have the class to contact an unhappy customer and resolve an easily resolvable issue.

I filed a complaint with the better business bureau and they once again blew me off by sending back a form letter that said that the Monroe club was no longer in business. If they are no longer in business, why are they trying to charge me money that I don't owe?

Some former members are planning a class action lawsuit to try and recover some of the money they stole from their members.

There are plenty of gyms out there that value their members. Do yourself a favor and find a different gym because if you ever have an issue with this company, their customer service is horrific. Don't put yourself through what so many other members have gone through. This company has no class whatsoever.
