Harassing, Abusive, Misrepresented, Incompetent Collection Agency

I recieved an "Out of Area" call this morning, My recorder picked up and a woman named Ms. Whitman demanded that my 19 month old son call her. I picked up the phone. Again she demanded to speak to him, I told her that I don't see how she's going to speak to him since he a toddler. She busted out laughing, I guess she found it funny, I didn't. Then she asks for my first name, I told her, she tells me that we owe money to Lab Corp of America and she was taping this conversation.

I tried several times to interupt her to tell her that she wasn't doing any such thing, but she kept yelling telling me to let her finish, blah, blah. Well, she finished her sentence by saying that I had to pay this bill and they will take credit card or check how was I paying for it. I got smart and asked her if she was finally finished.

She said, yes, I proceeded to say, that first off we do not owe any such bill, that my son's insurance company pays for lab tests fully. I went on to say, that secondly, These tests weren't even done by lab corp, but were done by his regular doctors office. She said she didn't know anything about that. She continued with her rudeness, and not letting me speak, in fact when I was talking she would interupt me by yelling, etc., yet when she opened her big mouth, I guess she thought the owrld would stop for her.

Anyway, I inform her that the insurance my son had at that time was a state funded insurance, therefor according to Federal laws, it can not be sent for collection. She started arguing again. I informed her that I am very evrsed in the laws, and she did not know what she was talking about. Then she says, that this is a collection against the family. Who the hell do these people think they are. First and formost, a "Finacial service" is just that, no where in there name does it imply "Collection Agency", which they DO have to state.

We were arguing back and forth, I told her that I request this be sent back to the original creditor, which would be Lab Corp. She told me that she was not going to do any such thing and contnued to argue. Again, I informed her that the Federal Law states that if I say the words, "I REQUEST IT GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL CREDITOR" it has to go back. The federal government made this law so that collection agencies could not continously harass the consumers.

She just kept on with her mouth, I told her that I don't appreciate her thinking that I am stupid, I know what the laws say and don't have time and appreciate her playing games over the phone. She puts me on hold, comes back and sats she spoke to her supervisor and he said she could refuse me. I told her I would file a report on them and Lab Corp.

I'm not through with them, If they want to be a collection agency, then I would strongly suggest they go back to school and learn the laws surrounding collection agencies. I don't have time for this ridiculous crap. The worst part is, I had found a website that had conflicts on Lab Corp billing, aparently, this isn't the only company they use, but amazingly enough, hundreds of complaints have been filed for the same exact problems in their billing department.
