24 Hour Fitness
Friends of Employees stuff entry box for Sweepstakes! Ripoff

Health & Medicine

24 Hour Fitness held a sweepstakes for a trip for 2 to Hawaii with a value of $1,500. To enter the sweepstakes certain criteria must be met, according to their published rules. Also, the winning person was required to be present to win. The drawing was held on the last day of July at each of the Clubs. The night of the drawing I went to the club for the drawing. About one half hour before the drawing the worker at the front announced on the club sound system to "come enter the drawing; only 30 minutes left". People were allowed to fill out an entry form, not having done any of the things that were listed as a condition of entry. I watched as friends of the employees filled out multiple entry forms and stuffed them into the bag, on top of the entries from people who had legitimately entered the contest. The drawing was held; and a young woman, who had put in her entry form while I watched (!) won the $1,500 trip. I emailed the corporate headquarters that night when I got home. I finally spoke to a woman who said that she was a regional manager in Orange County, California. I explained the situation. She asked me where the drawing had been held because possibly it was in an area where they had security cameras. I told her it was at the check-in desk. She told me that what had happened was completely unacceptable and would check into it and call me back. I paid over $700 in membership fees to be allowed to enter the contest, which was one of the ways to get an entry form for the contest. I have contacted the Attorney General for the State of California regarding this rip off. I have not heard anything back from 24 Hour Fitness even though I have repeatedly called the corporate office asking someone to call me back.
