Costly Crown Treatment in India Failed Within Two Weeks

A little about my dental history before I share my experience with Dentzz Clinic New Delhi and Dr Sunil Motwani. I have had dental issues in the past, and my doctor here in Spain recommended that I get crowns. It was rather expensive to do the crown job in Spain, so I started looking around and asking my friends. One of my girlfriends told me that she had her crown done in Calcutta, India and she was very happy. I had a look at her crown and it looked great, so I decided to search for a dental clinic in Delhi because I had a business trip to New Delhi anyway and could stay a bit longer to get the job done.

I searched the web for dental clinics in New Delhi, read tons of reviews and, after a few days, made a list of a few clinics that stood out. After further research I decided to go with Dentzz Dental Clinic, Greater Kailash 1 branch, because they had a lot of good reviews and looked professional.

I called them with some questions before finalizing my trip and dates. The number redirected me to their customer support center in Mumbai, and a lady named Natasha answered all my questions and concerns. She was very helpful and friendly, and she organized my whole treatment plan and sent a document with the exact cost and time it would take. I booked round-trip tickets for the exact dates. Before visiting the clinic I explained everything to Natasha and she assured me that the information was passed on to the New Delhi branch, which would assist me on the day of arrival.

When the day came and I was at the clinic, the front desk lady was very unprofessional. Although she told me to wait a few minutes, I waited 20-30 minutes before Dr. Sunil Motwani showed up. We talked for about 20-30 minutes and he assured me that everything would be done the way I wanted.

Then I received my first shock: the price I was given over the phone was completely different. He told me that the price I was given was for a total metal crown and not the one I wanted. Natasha gave me pricing for a metal crown even though I clearly asked her for ceramic crowns. Initially I was quoted $1800 USD for the whole work, but after the talk with Dr. Motwani he told me it would cost $4200. I told him that the lady had not told me this and that I did not have that much money, and after another 10 minutes of going back and forth he told me they could do it for $3700. I did not have any choice, as I did not want to come back to India and wanted to get done with my crowns. So I accepted, signed some documents and was told to show up for the next appointment after 2 days.

I had to call my husband to send me extra money because I did not bring that amount with me, my credit card had limits, and the clinic wanted 50% upfront at the next appointment. My friend who had her crowns done in India told me she had never seen such prices for dental treatment in India. My husband said to just get it done and come back.

After 2 days I went back for the 2nd appointment. Without a greeting, the front desk lady showed me some documents and asked if I had the 50%. I paid her the 50% and she gave me a receipt and told me to wait. Once again I waited another 30 minutes for Dr. Motwani to show up. These are the problems I had:

1. Dr. Motwani did not seem to know how to handle instruments. On a few occasions the instruments fell on the ground and he just took them back without cleaning and continued with the procedure. This happened again and again. He was also checking his phone non-stop and answering text messages instead of performing the procedure.

2. He was burping non-stop during the procedure, which I found very unprofessional.

3. I was then told to meet the dental hygienist for teeth whitening. She had very long, dirty nails and spent a lot of her time cleaning her nails with other nails before performing a procedure on my teeth. The whitening was done in an unprofessional way. After the work was done I looked in the mirror and there was still plaque around my teeth, but she kept saying there was nothing. She also kept checking her phone during the procedure. I kept telling her it was not done but she said it was okay and they looked good.

4. The whitening was so bad that when they tried to match the crown colors, the crowns were whiter than my teeth.

5. Their ceramic crowns were not ceramic crowns at all; it was the cheapest zirconia ceramic crown one can find.

6. They did not care about aesthetics. When they first tried the crown on me it looked terrible, and when I went to the washroom to check it again on my own I broke down in tears. I told them it did not match at all and they kept saying it matched. I started crying in front of them. After wasting my time and theirs they decided to redo it. They said they would request some changes to the existing crown so it would match better, but it was like a stone 5x bigger than my other teeth. I do not understand how they could not see the difference.

7. The crowns were delivered by two men. It looked like they have their own lab at home where they craft these crowns, because it certainly did not look like a professional crown done in a lab. If you want, I can post pictures to show how bad the quality of their crowns is.

8. Do not trust their clinic, website, testimonials and photos, because I believe they are fake or edited. You are not going to get anything near what you see on their website.

9. I went back home with ugly crowns, and after 2 weeks, while I was swimming, a crown came off. I was crying all day. I ended up paying another $5000 here to get everything redone, about two weeks after coming back from India. The doctors here were shocked by the job that was done in India, and the doctor here asked me who did this job.

If you want to waste your money, go to Dentzz clinic in India for dental work, because you will lose not only money but time, and have a lot of stress.
