Ripoff dishonest fraudulent billing

I purchased a Nextel phone from the Nextel store at "The Block" in Orange, CA (Aug) At the time of purchase, I explained I need the phone to have a Hawaii phone number, because we would be using it there. I was told by the rep - "No Problem".

I gave the rep my credit card, and was charged a $200 deposit. I was told the phone would be activated within 24 hours.

24 hours passed, and the phone did not have service. I proceeded back to the Nextel Store and asked for the rep I dealt with the day prior&he was off. I explained my predicament. I was then told by the Supervisor that the only way the phone could be activated with the Hawaii phone number was to wait until we landed in Hawaii and proceed to a Nextel retailer there. But at this time, what they could do for me was give me the OC phone number (714).. And OH, By the way, I was told my credit card did not go through the previous day - and they needed it again to "Correct" my account... So I gave them my card.

The phone activated - we traveled to Hawaii, changed the number -and I thought all was OK. Until I started receiving my invoices!

To my dismay, NEXTEL had charged my credit card twice for the same deposit $400 instead of $200 - and to make matters worse, they never fixed the initial incorrect contract, instead, they just opened another account!

So now, 3 years later, I am still battling with "NEXTEL H*LL". They have reported me to credit - saying I owe them $509.00 - Beligerent credit agencies calling me to collect - Yet after numerous attempts from me trying to fix - with original documents trying to prove I do not owe them that $ they still persist.

HELP - What has happened to customer service. Why doesn't anyone want to do their job?
