Verizon wireless unbilled extra charges breaking ethics and promises

We had a verizon wireless account that we finished with in 2006. We asked for a final bill and they sent one. We paid it and never got another bill afterwards. Lo and behold we ended up with a very small collection on unbilled charges. We quickly called VW and paid it that same day as getting the notice of collections. The nice lady said that if we paid then she would remove the mark (collection account) from our credit report. We paid in full and they simply refuse to honor their previous agreement to delete this from my credit report. I was actually laughed at by a collections woman the other day and hung up on. We are humble people with excellent credit and this just sticks on our reports as an eyesore. Why is VW so mean to its former customers and us. Back in my days, an agreement was upheld. We would just simply like it removed so we can move on with our lives. We asked to pay the final bill and never got an additional bill or we would have paid like we always do on all our bills (therwise we would have bad credit). I just got a phone call from VW (Shrene) at their executive offices. We went through the issue again and she sasys she will eview the account and let me know by COB tomorrow. What bothers me is that it does not sound good for me. She kept coming back to the collection point (validity of reporting). That is not the case here. VW (Sharon in collections) told us one thing and did another. Plus, we ALWAYS pay our bills on time. A collection sits there on my CRAs until 2013 because VW could not call us and let us know there was a remaining balance (no number on caller id nor voice mails). They may hav emailed another bill, but they get lost from time to time. We are honorable people and value our integrity. People that know us locally know that we are good honest people, but otherwise, my credit report is used to tell people who I am. Right now it is showing me as a bill deadbeat for $71 which is SO untrue. We are sick and tired of having to explain to every creditor, bank, etc. Why we have this paid collections. Went to collections and paid same month. VW need to value their integrity and do the right thing for good upstanding Americans as they promised. Wyoguy Cheyenne, Wyoming
