We purchased a Tracfone with Lifetime Double Minutes included last year. At some point soon after, the phone ceased to work. I contacted Tracfone both by phone and by email, at which time Tracfone determined that sending the phone back would not be cost effective. Tracfone did not offer to send a phone nor offer me to purchase a phone sent directly from them.

I was told to purchase any other Tracfone of choice here. At this point I contacted Tracfone to inquire about the original Lifetime Double Minutes. I was told all previous Tracfone services including Double Minutes would be transferred over to the phone we purchased.

After purchasing the phone, I contacted Tracfone who looked up the last purchase and only transferred the original card amount. I was told that it would take approx 2 weeks to research since original phone would not display at all to see minutes left before it became inoperable. I was told at this time that the Lifetime Double Minutes was active, and would begin with the next purchase.

With next purchase, minutes were not doubled, so I contacted Tracfone. After a long wait, they doubled the minutes manually and again told me the problem was resolved. Before, all minutes including Bonus minutes had been doubled, but this time only purchased minutes were doubled. Okay, that is a ripoff, too, but not as much as the main issue I will discuss next.

Today, my son received an airtime card that again, was entered into the system by web. Minutes again did not double. This time, after an hour of talking with 2 people, one of whom was a supervisor, I was told that in order to double minutes, the return had to be within the first 3 mos of redemption. This was never mentioned previously in any of the numerous contacts I have had. Not only that, this is the first time I was told that Tracfone could have sent us a phone with the Lifetime Double Minutes as the phone originally purchased, but again, I was never told this until today.

As it stands, we have only a regular phone despite paying for Lifetime Double Minutes, despite the fact that the records listed on the serial number of the original phone (number I still have record of and so do they) show that original phone had Lifetime Double Minutes. This means that each and every time today and henceforth that we buy a card for airtime on this phone, that the value of our purchase has been illegally doubled by Tracfone's practices.

My desperate plea would be for NO ONE to buy Tracfone products for their children believing them to be a great value. They could have been, but they do not honor their own practices and further, do not care for their customers at all.
